Can AI Make Business More Fair? 2400 1296 RevUp Growth Partners

I asked AI to write me an introductory paragraph for a blog post on AI. I also wrote my own paragraph (before seeing the bot’s result) to compare.

See if you can guess which is which:

Option A: Hey there, fellow entrepreneurs! As a new business owner navigating the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, I’ve been blown away by the transformative power of AI in the realm of business. It’s like having a supercharged sidekick in my corner, helping me tackle everything from data analysis to customer engagement with unprecedented efficiency and insight. From automating mundane tasks to unlocking hidden patterns in consumer behavior, AI is revolutionizing the way we operate, allowing us to punch above our weight and compete with the big dogs. In my latest blog post, I’ll dive into the game-changing ways AI is reshaping the business world and how we, as savvy marketers, can harness its potential to drive growth and scale our ventures like never before. So grab a coffee, buckle up, and let’s explore the AI-powered future of business together!

Or:

Option B: AI has the potential to transform our world in ways we have never imagined. I’ve recently taken interest in this topic as a new business owner for purely practical reasons – a number of AIs are already saving me and my team time, which is saving our clients money and giving us a competitive advantage. But there are also a number of broader philosophical considerations at play. Some of these are already being litigated (literally and figuratively) at the highest levels of society and government. Others are more subtle.

Got your answer in mind? If you guessed Option A is the bot, you’re right. And perhaps it’s pretty obvious in this example (if you know me, you know I’d never, ever type the words: “So grab a coffee, buckle up, and let’s explore the AI-powered future of business together!”). But if I didn’t show them to you side-by-side, would you know?

But seriously (and – to be clear – the rest of this post is written with no AI assistance): As someone who has long considered myself both (a) a good writer and (b) a very productive worker, AI is making me rethink work in exciting and uncomfortable ways.

For starters, AI is creating much broader access to high-quality written communication that’s enabling more people to participate in the marketplace. Here’s an example: Let’s say you’re an entrepreneur. You’ve got a brilliant business idea that you think is poised to totally disrupt the market. You’ve got the financial models, you’ve got a strong team, and you’ve got an MVP. You just need investment.

But you can’t write well. Your competitors are getting meetings with VCs because they have clear, compelling presentations and pitch decks, while yours is clunky and awkward. Like it or not, our ability to communicate our ideas is a direct driver of our ability to get attention and respect for those ideas.

With help from AI, you can convert your thoughts into a polished presentation – one that’s more likely to be taken seriously by investors – in a few minutes. It’s not perfect, but it gets you 85% of the way there.

So you’ve suddenly leveled the playing field. Your substantively good ideas are brought to market and given the attention they need to have a chance of being funded. You’ve had a major barrier – clear written communication – removed.

Depending on your views, you might see this as cheating. You might see it as a driver of increasing competition. Or, you might see it as a way to make the marketplace more accessible and equitable. More people with good ideas are able to help those ideas flourish.

I know there are countless more (and likely better) examples of how AI is making our marketplaces more accessible. Where are you seeing this happen, and how do you feel about it? Share your thoughts with us!
